Loads of Liverpool fans were appalled by the fitness update of Diogo Jota as the Reds are set to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old has been missing from action since December after picking up a knee injury against FC Midtjylland - a game in which the Reds had already qualified for the next round of the competition.

After being filmed back at the AXA Training Centre, the club confirmed ahead of their UCL clash against Leipzig, that Jota is "not ready" to take part in full with the rest of his teammates.

Jota has left a lasting impressing since his £41m from Wolves in the summer and has scored nine goals from 17 appearances in all competitions, giving Jurgen Klopp a real quality option outside of his main front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

When Klopp confirmed the extent of his injury, the Reds were second in the table in the Premier League and only behind leaders Tottenham on goal difference. In his absence, Liverpool have slipped down to sixth and now find themselves 13 points behind current table-toppers Manchester City.

After The Athletic's James Pearce (via WatchLFC) predicted that Jota would take part in training last week, some supporters took it upon themselves to, bizarrely, accuse the club of lying to the fans on the back of their horrendous injury crisis during the 2020/21 campaign.

It's no surprise that many Reds fans seem to be so upset and frustrated at the news given how their side have plummeted since the Portuguese star's injury.

"Cannot believe how much this club has lied to the fans over injuries this season. He was meant to be back end of Jan/beginning of Feb and it keeps being pushed back. Disgraceful"
