Liverpool: Fans hail Michael Edwards after revelation about Alisson transfer

A number of Liverpool fans saluted the role of sporting director Michael Edwards in the signing of Alisson two years ago after fresh reports emerged about that transfer.
Goal.com revealed that the Brazilian had already been on the Reds’ radar for five years and that, prior to the 2018 Champions League final, Edwards had spent nearly 12 months negotiating with the goalkeeper’s representatives to convince him that Liverpool, rather than fellow suitors Real Madrid, Napoli or Chelsea, was the best place for him. The story was later shared on Twitter by @AnfieldWatch.

Goal.com added that the Reds has baulked at Roma’s initial asking price of £100m for Alisson and had considered cheaper alternatives such as Jack Butland, Nick Pope and Thomas Strakosha before clinching a deal for the Brazil international.
Alisson arrived at Anfield in the wake of Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, in which ‘keeper Loris Karius made two costly errors, and a total of 27 clean sheets in his first season at the club helped them to win the competition in 2019 and push Manchester City all the way in an epic Premier League title race.

Michael Edwards does a fine job especially behind the scenes. We only see his completed work when players are doing the melwood lean, this show’s the very gruelling work done to get a top class player I for one wouldn’t have the patience. Thank you Michael
