Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is predictably elated with the news that his boyhood club have finally been crowned Premier League champions.

For the first time in the club's history, they will lift the Premier League trophy, and mark their first top flight win in 30 years. James Pearce has relayed some comments made by the former skipper and current Rangers manager, who thinks Jurgen Klopp deserves a statue outside Anfield for what he's done with the club.

In his latest feature for The Athletic, the Liverpool reporter has shared an exclusive interview with Gerrard and his take on the Reds being crowned champions.

The players and fans alike watched Chelsea's performance against Manchester City with bated breath, before a 2-1 win for the Blues mathematically secured Liverpool's title. This huge victory is another trophy to add to Klopp's ever-growing cabinet, already boasting the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Loads of fans are in total agreement that the German deserves a monument to celebrate his achievements with the club. One Kopite has said Gerrard is 'spot on' with his take, whilst another thinks it 'might upset Evertonians', who are undoubtedly pig-sick over their rivals' success.
