Many Liverpool fans were incensed with manager Jurgen Klopp regarding his decision to loan out midfielder Takumi Minamino and stick with striker Divock Origi.
The 26-year-old completed a loan move to Southampton until the end of the 2020/21 campaign and got himself on the scoresheet in his first outing with a well taken left-footed finish inside the 18-yard box against Newcastle on Saturday.
On the other hand, Origi has not started a Premier League game and has failed to score any goals this season, with his Japanese teammate having netted against Crystal Palace before the turn of the year.
To make things worse, the Belgium international has not scored a competitive goal in the league since his side’s 3-1 win against Newcastle United last season and has only played 179 minutes of football so far this term.
Do you think Liverpool should sell Origi?
As a result, this has lead to questions from confused supporters as to what Klopp sees in him, and why Minamino was sent out on loan after his debut strike.
These fans flip out at Klopp
“It’s taken one game for Minamino to show he’s 10x the player Origi is.”
“Imagine keeping Origi and letting Minamino”
“It truly needs to be investigated why Klopp has chosen Origi over Minamino”
“Keeping Origi and loaning out Minamino has to be the worst decision in Klopp’s managerial career”
“And yet we’ve been wasting minutes – game after game – on Origi. The mind boggles.”
“We kept Origi and loaned out Minamino pain.”
