Liverpool: Fans react as Lincoln are confirmed as Reds’ Carabao Cup opponents

Lincoln City have been confirmed as Liverpool’s opponents for their upcoming Carabao Cup tie, one which has failed to garner enthusiasm from plenty of Kopites.
The League One side cruised into the third round of the competition with a 5-0 away thrashing of Bradford last night and will now welcome the Premier League champions to Sincil Bank, with the fixture due to be played on 22 or 23 September – most likely the latter as the Reds play Chelsea in the league on Sunday 20th.
Although the Merseysiders have won the competition eight times, more than any other club, the last of those came in 2012 (as per TransferMarkt), while in recent years they have tended to treat it as low priority. Following consecutive third round exits in 2017 and 2018, they reached the quarter-finals last season.
Should Liverpool take the Carabao Cup seriously this season?
Yes

No

However, with the trip to Aston Villa taking place the night before Liverpool were playing Monterrey in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar, then-Reds under-23 manager Neil Critchley took charge for the Carabao Cup tie at Villa Park, where a youthful line-up lost 5-0 (as per BBC).
With Jurgen Klopp’s team seeking to retain the Premier League title this season, many Liverpool fans on Twitter frankly don’t seem bothered about the Carabao Cup:
League Cup is still a thing in 2020? https://t.co/pw3io28cTM

Why do we even bother with his tinpot trophy when they made us play 2 games in a matter of 21 hours.

To save everything, just stop the league Cup & give it to Man City…
