Liverpool: Fans discuss imminent departure of Nathaniel Clyne

Liverpool have announced that Nathaniel Clyne will be leaving the club at the end of the month upon the expiry of his contract.
The Reds have opted not to renew the right-back’s stay at Anfield, despite giving Adam Lallana and Andy Lonergan short-term extensions in order to see them stay until the season finale.
Clyne joined the club back in 2015 from Southampton, for a fee of £12.5m (via BBC Sport) and has since made a total of 103 appearances in red. Across his time on Merseyside, the 29-year-old contributed two goals and five assists (via Transfermarkt). Unfortunately for Clyne, the rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold saw his position in the starting lineup usurped and he has fallen drastically down the pecking order since.
Many Liverpool fans have been discussing Clyne’s exit, with a few unhappy to see him go. However, other Kopites are reflecting on his time as a Red, with one supporter saying at one time he was “perfect for us”. Another has branded the right-back as “another Finnan”, a reference to the former Republic of Ireland defender who devoted five years to the club.

Another Finnan as Mr Consistent before his injury. Brillian player for us. Best of luck Clyne!

16/17 Clyne & 15/16 Clyne is better than any AWB, you can’t convince me otherwise

A real shame. A top quality right back before the emergence of Trent. Would’ve liked for him to have a chance of getting a medal but we understand. Thank you Edwin. We wish you all the best in what comes next for you. YNWA. pic.twitter.com/daAKrYbetM
