Liverpool: Fans draw Adrian comparison after Peter Gulacsi’s error against PSG - Liverpool News

Plenty of Liverpool fans had some unpleasant flashbacks after witnessing Peter Gulacsi’s costly error for RB Leipzig last night, drawing comparisons with a similar horror moment for Adrian earlier this year.

The Bundesliga outfit lost 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain as their Champions League hopes ended in the semi-finals, with one of the French club’s goals stemming from a mistake from the former Reds goalkeeper, who never played a first team game at Anfield in six years before leaving in 2013.

Who signed Luis Suarez?

With Leipzig trailing 0-1 shortly before half-time, the Hungarian was attempting to play the ball out from the back but succeeded only in giving it straight to Leandro Paredes, whose pass to Neymar was deftly flicked on to Angel Di Maria to dispatch it to the net and double PSG’s lead (as per Sky Sports).

It evoked unhappy memories of a similar mistake by Liverpool ‘keeper Adrian in the same competition back in March. With the Reds leading in extra time against Atletico Madrid, the Spaniard’s clearance went straight to an opponent and Marcos Llorente duly slotted the ball past him to swing the tie decisively in his team’s favour and dethrone the Merseysiders as European champions (as per BBC).

These Liverpool fans on Twitter couldn’t help but notice the similarity between the two goalkeepers, particularly with their fateful errors both coming in this season’s Champions League:
