Many Liverpool fans were critical of Takumi Minamino during their Champions League game in Milan on Tuesday night.

Liverpool headed to the San Siro knowing that they had already won Group B after picking up maximum points from their first five matches.

Milan, on the other hand, started the night in third and were vying for a place in the Round of 16 with FC Porto and Atletico Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp took the opportunity to rotate his side, with only two players who started against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend keeping their places - Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Recapping Minamino's performance vs Milan

Minamino lined up in a middle three alongside 19-year-old Tyler Morton and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

According to WhoScored, he'd only started in midfield once before this season.

And the Japanese international seemed to struggle. Indeed, his SofaScore rating of 6.8 was the joint-lowest in the Liverpool side.

He won only two of his six ground duels and was blamed by BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Neil Lennon for the opening goal, having failed to clear a corner before Fikayo Tomori converted.
