Many Liverpool fans are begging manager Jurgen Klopp to start Xherdan Shaqiri against Manchester United on Sunday.
The 29-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game this season after being largely exiled by manager Jurgen Klopp, despite his side’s recent domestic slump.
Because of that slump, the Red Devils leapfrogged them to the top of the Premier League table, with the two sides set to go head to head in the first part of their double header, with an FA Cup tie to come soon.
Shaqiri has only made four appearances as a substitute in the league and one start in the Champions League, failing to average over a match rating of 6.50 in either competition (Whoscored).
Should Shaqiri start against Manchester United?
That being said, supporters are still keen to see him feature in Klopp’s starting lineup at Anfield, with one bizarrely suggesting that he should take Mohamed Salah’s place in the team after @AnfieldWatch asked fans on Twitter…
Fans urge Klopp to start Shaqiri
“Yes I would start @XS_11official on Sunday vs Man U, he’s on form and creates chances, a very good highly-rated player top class”
“Without a doubt”
“Couldn’t give a reason not to really, the way we’ve played the past few weeks we need somebody like him especially against united no less”
“I agree he should start”
“Yes over Salah”
“Yes. Definitely. But I know he won’t start.”
