Liverpool ‘remain interested’ in Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The Lowdown: Big-money arrival expected

The Premier League giants have reportedly set aside cash to make a box-office central signing in this winter window, with the Ecuadorian having been identified as a potential target.

The Merseyside outfit were previously credited with an interest in the Seagulls playmaker, alongside Chelsea who were also name-checked in relation to the 21-year-old due to Graham Potter having managed him during his spell at the Amex.

The Latest: Sheth’s update

Taking to Twitter, Sheth revealed that Liverpool and Chelsea’s admiration of Caicedo is still very strong, but failed to state whether FSG are considering making an official approach. He wrote:

“Liverpool & Chelsea remain interested in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. Interesting development - it's understood he will join a new agency this month, thought to be Futbol Division. Same one that looks after his Ecuador team-mate Piero Hincapie.”

The Verdict: Potential advantage?

Caicedo currently shares the same agent as Fabio Carvalho, and that could well give the club the advantage in the race for his signature should a deal be completed before he makes the switch.

The Santo Domingo native is naturally more of a defensive midfielder, averaging 2.9 tackles and 1.1 key passes per top-flight game (WhoScored).

Caicedo has been labelled a ‘Machine Man’ by Jacek Kulig so it’s no surprise that Jurgen Klopp is still looking at him, potentially making this one to watch over the next few weeks.
