Pundit Paddy Kenny has tipped West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen to replace Sadio Mane at Liverpool, following the news of the Senegal international’s looming departure.

The Lowdown: Liverpool’s previous interest

The Merseyside club have frequently been linked with a move for the Irons winger in the past, with The Athletic’s James Pearce having previously reported that the 25-year-old was on Liverpool’s radar last summer.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a well-known admirer of Bowen, having labelled him an “unbelievable player” for the jump he has made from Hull City to a West Ham side now regularly challenging for a spot in European competitions.

The Latest: Mane replacement?

With The Athletic’s news that Mane is now looking to leave Liverpool this summer as he heads into the final year of his contract, pundit Paddy Kenny has claimed that Bowen would be a fantastic replacement for Klopp’s side.

Speaking with Football Insider, the 44-year-old proclaimed:

“Bowen has been unbelievable and now he’s got his first England call up.

“That shows how good of a season he has had at West Ham.

“Every time I have watched him play he has done really well and looks head and shoulders above the other players.

“If that’s an option and Liverpool are interested, it would be huge. I think they were interested in January, then I would bet he’s the perfect replacement for Mane in my opinion."

The Verdict: Good signing

Whilst it will be no easy feat to replace Mane, Bowen could prove to be a shrewd signing during a difficult time for Liverpool.

In the Premier League this season, the England international scored 12 goals in 36 games, whilst netting an extra three during the Hammers’ sensational run in the Europa League.

With 94 games under his belt in the English top-flight, Bowen now has a wealth of experience playing at the top level, and his experiences in Europe this season will only add to his seemingly never-ending development.
