Liverpool: Alex Inglethorpe to sign new long-term Reds deal

Liverpool: Alex Inglethorpe to sign new long-term Reds deal - Liverpool News

Highly-rated Liverpool coach Alex Inglethorpe is ‘set to sign’ a new long-term contract at Anfield, reliable journalist James Pearce has confirmed.

The Lowdown: Inglethorpe shines at Anfield

The 50-year-old has now been with the Reds for a decade, having initially come in and managed the Under-21s between 2012 and 2014.

Inglethorpe has grown in stature over the years, however, and is now in the role of academy manager, overseeing all the goings-on at youth team level.

He has always been a highly-regarded figure at Anfield and it looks as though his continued good work is being rewarded.

The Latest: New long-term deal incoming

Taking to Twitter on Friday, The Athletic‘s Pearce confirmed that Inglethorpe would sign a new deal at Kirkby:

“Liverpool academy manager Alex Inglethorpe is set to sign a new long-term contract. Reward for his outstanding work in helping to develop the exciting young talent coming through at Kirkby.”

The Verdict: Great news for Reds

While Liverpool fans are often only interested in on-pitch arrivals and players signing new deals, this is great news for the club, given Inglethorpe’s reputation in the game.

He has worked wonders at the academy, overseeing the development of youngsters such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones, with Jurgen Klopp describing him as ‘incredible’, which is as high praise as you could wish for.

Inglethorpe staying put and committing his long-term future to Liverpool can only be a good thing, bringing stability to the club and ensuring the academy continues to thrive.
