Liverpool are 'keeping close tabs' on highly-rated Birmingham City starlet George Hall ahead of a possible summer move, according to a new transfer rumour.

The Lowdown: Hall a huge prospect

Much like Jude Bellingham before him, the 18-year-old is making a name for himself at St Andrew's, already becoming a regular part of the first team at a young age.

Hall has made 18 appearances for Birmingham in the Championship this season, chipping in with one goal and assist apiece during that period. He ranks impressively on metrics for expected goals and expected assists, so one could expect that end product to grow rapidly before too long.

He has been linked with a move away from his current club, namely to Leeds, who are currently without a manager, and it looks as though Liverpool could now also be in the mix.

The Latest: Liverpool eyeing up move

According to Football Insider reporter Wayne Veysey, the Reds are tracking Hall's situation and have been 'regularly watching' him in action for Birmingham this season.

He is dubbed the 'next Jude Bellingham' in the report, and with his current deal expiring in 2024, the Blues could feel that this summer is the time to sell.

The Verdict: One for the future

Hall is clearly a special talent, having been hailed as 'explosive' by Birmingham coach Martyn Olorenshaw, not to mention winning eight caps for England's Under-18s.

He could, therefore, be a hugely exciting signing by Liverpool, coming in as a long-term prospect who can be part of Jurgen Klopp's much-needed midfield rebuild, as the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gradually move on.

Rushing Hall straight into the team would be uncalled for but snapping him up in the summer and then loaning him out straight away could be ideal for his development, much in the way they did with Harvey Elliott, who scored seven times and got 11 assists on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the league in 2020/21.

His appearances in the Championship show that Hall is already picking important minutes, and if his career trajectory is anything like Bellingham's, the sky could be the limit for him over time.
