Liverpool have spoken to Neymar’s agents

Liverpool are one of numerous Premier League clubs to have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar over a summer move.
The Lowdown: Neymar a modern superstar
The 31-year-old is one of the leading footballers of his generation, having consistently performed at the top level for around a decade now.
Neymar is Brazil’s all-time top goalscorer, netting 77 times in 125 caps for his country and also winning six league titles and one Champions League trophy in his career.
He is contracted at PSG until 2025, but recent rumours have suggested that he is unhappy there, which could potentially lead to a move away.
The Latest: Liverpool interest emerges
According to 90min, Liverpool are one of the clubs who Neymar’s representatives have spoken to regarding a move in the summer, with a Premier League switch appealing to him.
Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all mentioned in the report, too, ahead of a possible battle to snap him up in the coming months.
The Verdict: Would be a big shock
Neymar is clearly an unbelievable footballer who has enjoyed so much success – he has been called ‘one of the best players on the planet’ by PSG boss Christophe Galtier – but it is extremely hard to see him at Liverpool next season.
At 31, there is an argument to say that his peak years may just be behind him and Jurgen Klopp needs to be signing younger players with the hunger to work hard for the team.
Neymar only averages 0.2 interceptions per game in Ligue 1 this season and is something of a luxury player now, while his extortionate wages could likely only be afforded by some of their rivals.
It is a shock rumour, in many ways, and while some may not be against the idea of the forward in a Liverpool shirt, it feels like a bad fit, especially when Klopp has six strong attacking options at his disposal already.
