Liverpool are in discussions over an initial £4m deal for Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay, according to Sky journalist Anthony Joseph.

The Lowdown: Nunez and Ramsay

The 18-year-old Ramsay has been touted as a Reds transfer target constantly in recent weeks, as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring in summer reinforcements.

Ramsay has caught the eye with his attacking performances for Aberdeen in the last 12 months, with the youngster inspired by Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

There has also been plenty of chatter about Benfica's Darwin Nunez of course, who is missing Uruguay's match this weekend to jet off and complete a move to Anfield, according to reports.

Now, it looks like we could be seeing both players in Liverpool red before too long...

The Latest: Liverpool make approach

Taking to Twitter on Friday night, Sky Sports News' Joseph claimed that a £4million deal is looking likely, which would be a record for Aberdeen:

"UPDATE: Liverpool have made their approach for Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay. It’s understood an initial fee of £4m is being discussed, with add-ons that could see the total figure rise to around £6m. Anything over £3m would be a record for the Dons."

The Verdict: Matter of time

This is a transfer that now feels like a matter of time until it is completed, with all parties seemingly agreeing on Ramsay's next destination being Liverpool.

The young Scot could be a great signing by the Reds, having been hailed as 'elite' by Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack, maturing into a formidable talent from right-back.

Admittedly, it will be hard for Ramsay to force his way into the team ahead of Alexander-Arnold, but the competition could get the best out of both players, while the latter could even end up playing in midfield one day, opening up a spot in the team.
