Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a potential January transfer offer to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Lowdown: Amrabat's season so far

This season has seen the 26-year-old make 20 appearances for his club across all competitions, starting in 17 of those.

After racking up more minutes than any other Morocco player in the recent World Cup, Amrabat found himself included in The Independent's team of the tournament.

With the January transfer window set to open next week, the midfielder could be on his way to England as two of the Premier League's top managers have him on their wish lists.

The Latest: Liverpool weighing up Amrabat offer

According to a recent report from Tuttomercatoweb, Liverpool and top-flight rivals Tottenham Hotspur, are considering making an offer to sign Amrabat in January.

The report adds that Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the midfielder for his characteristics and dynamism on the pitch.

The Verdict: Liverpool should move for Amrabat

Across 13 Serie A appearances so far this season, Amrabat has recorded more progressive passes (64) than any other player at Fiorentina, in addition to having the second-highest passing accuracy percentage (90%) at the club.

In terms of his efforts off the ball, the Morocco international has the second-highest number of interceptions (11) at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, also making more tackles in the attacking third of the pitch (five) than any of his team0mates.   Taking this into account, it seems clear that Amrabat would be a strong addition to Liverpool's squad and give the team some extra strength as someone who is comfortable in possession and capable of working diligently when the Reds don't have the ball. With Spurs also interested in signing the World Cup star, who was hailed by journalist Josh Bunting for a "stunning" tackle that he pulled off in Qatar, Liverpool should definitely do all they can to land the Moroccan's signature in January.
