Liverpool forward Divock Origi is available for his team's Champions League semi-final clash against Villarreal tonight, according to journalist James Pearce.

The Lowdown: Origi misses weekend win

The Reds picked up a crucial 1-0 away to Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend, with Naby Keita's goal the difference between the two sides. Origi played no part in proceedings, though, after the Belgian was ruled out through illness.

As Liverpool prepare to take on Villarreal in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final this evening, a positive update has emerged regarding the Belgian.

The Latest: Origi back to face Villarreal

Taking to Twitter, Pearce confirmed for The Athletic that Origi would indeed return to the Reds' squad in Spain, with Roberto Firmino missing out as expected. He tweeted:

"Origi set to return to the squad but CL semi-final 2nd leg v Villarreal comes too soon for Firmino."

The Verdict: Another famous contribution?

While it would be a huge shock if Origi starts a game of such magnitude given that he's been in the XI just twice in the European run so far, having him to call upon as an option off the substitutes' bench is an immediate boost to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

The 27-year-old has shown how adept he is at popping up in huge moments, scoring important goals against Wolves and Everton this season, not to mention a legendary strike in a previous Champions League semi-final second leg against Spanish opposition...

If the tie is finely poised going into the last 20 minutes, don't be surprised to see Klopp show faith in the Belgium international as he looks to write one more famous chapter in his Liverpool career before possibly moving on this summer.
