Dejan Lovren is not exactly the most popular figure at Liverpool as it is.
The Croatia international has made a fair few gaffes down the years since joining from Southampton for £20m and that isn’t just on the pitch. His most memorable interviews include the time when he said he was one of the best defenders on the planet when he reached the Champions League final and the World Cup final in the same year (beIN Sports, via Sky Sports) – something that was met with plenty of ridicule.
You would have thought he would be able to lie low during the coronavirus pandemic but that is unlikely to be the case following his latest remarks. In an interview with Sportske Novisti (via Sky Sports), he has said that footballers will need a holiday to recover mentally from the current situation.
Do you agree with Lovren?
As you can imagine, this has gone down like a lead balloon with some Liverpool supporters. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
He shouldn’t do interviews full stop. Don’t see why they should be treated different to other professionals. When it’s safe to do so get back playing. None of this about needing a holiday to recover.

It’s ok, give him a permanent holiday, he should never wear a LFC shirt again, embarrassment

He can recover mentally on the bench

I think its a masked statement. He’s basically saying this is rubbish cos even tho i know i won’t play i still have to train and now i have to train in lockdown. He’s 1000% leaving asap.

Lets hope he is sold this summer.

I always stick up for Lovren but this is stupid, we should now sell him to Everton
