Liverpool: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would be a 'huge signing' - Follow up

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that reported transfer target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would be a ‘huge signing’ for Liverpool.

The Lowdown: Liverpool interest

It was reported last week that the Anfield outfit have ‘observed’ the Georgian, who Napoli would consider selling for around €100m (£87.6m) in the summer.

However, the Reds will face competition from rivals Manchester United for his signature, along with Real Madrid, the current Champions League holders and their next opponents in the competition.

The Latest: Would be a ‘huge signing’

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke has claimed that Kvaratskhelia would be a ‘huge signing’ for Liverpool, even going as far as to claim that the 21-year-old is the ‘most impressive player in Europe’ this season.

The journalist said: “He would be a huge signing. He has probably been the most impressive player in Europe this season for Napoli, especially in the Champions League.

“Obviously, Liverpool saw him up close in those two games in the group stages, when he gave them real problems.”

The Verdict: Get it done

Topping a group containing Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers with 15 points on the board, Napoli have been one of the most impressive teams in the Champions League so far. They are also unbeaten in Serie A and top the table by eight points going into the break for the World Cup in Qatar.

Kvaratskhelia has been a big part of Napoli’s success, having scored eight goals and supplied a further 10 assists in just 17 games across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Is comedy legend Will Ferrell a Liverpool fan?

Liverpool supporters would have seen in the flesh what he can do from Napoli’s 4-1 win over the Reds in the Champions League group stage, when the Georgia international grabbed an assist and was also a general menace in the Azzurri frontline (SofaScore).

Signing him would be a real coup for Jurgen Klopp’s side, should they manage to get a deal over the line.
