Fulham are keen on making Liverpool youngster Neco Williams' loan move a permanent one this summer, according to a fresh transfer rumour.

The Lowdown: Williams impresses on loan

The Welshman moved to Craven Cottage on a temporary basis in the January transfer window, having been limited to just seven minutes of Premier League action this season.

Williams has shone for Fulham ever since, helping them return to the top flight and impressing with his attacking performances from right-back. As per Sofascore, he was their third-best player during the most recent campaign, trailing only Aleksandar Mitrovic and ex-Reds prodigy Harry Wilson, who scored a mammoth 53 league goals between them.

The 21-year-old has been hailed as 'outstanding' by Ryan Giggs, and with Trent Alexander-Arnold being Liverpool's undisputed first-choice right-back, a summer exit could be on the cards for the Welsh youngster.

The Latest: Fulham want permanent move

According to Football Insider, a Fulham source has confirmed that the Cottagers want to sign Williams permanently at the end of the season, with a £12m deal mooted.

The defender is reportedly willing to move to west London for good, having clearly enjoyed life there so far.

The Verdict: Ideal next step for Neco

While it would be sad to see such a talented young player leaving Liverpool this summer, it feels like a natural next step for Williams to join Fulham permanently.

It would allow him to be a regular at a Premier League club, rather than warming the substitutes' bench at Anfield most weeks, potentially not even making the matchday squad at times.

Barring serious injury, it is hard to see when Williams would ever get a genuine run in the team under Jurgen Klopp, given Alexander-Arnold's world-class brilliance and similarly young age.
