Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a potential move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Midfield crisis

The Anfield club are suffering from somewhat of a midfield injury crisis at the moment, with Jordan Henderson, Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita currently all on the treatment table.

They have brought in Arthur on loan from Juventus and have been strongly linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham next summer. However, they could look to sign another midfielder in January if they fall too far behind Manchester City and the rest of the pecking order in the Premier League title race.

The Latest: Sangare interest

As per Calciomercato, Liverpool are eyeing a potential January move for Sangare.

However, the Reds may face competition from both West Ham United and AC Milan for his signature.

The Verdict: Great Bellingham alternative

There is sure to be a lot of interest in Bellingham come the summer, so Sangare could be a great under-the-radar alternative for Liverpool to target.

Hailed as 'unstoppable' at times by former PSV manager Roger Schmidt, the 24-year-old has actually averaged more passes and tackles per game than Bellingham over all competitions so far this season, and has even been likened to Premier League legends Yaya Toure and Michael Essien in the past.

If he can live up to that kind of hype, then Sangare could well be the Reds' new midfield enforcer for years to come, if they managed to prise him from PSV's clutches.
