Liverpool are set to miss out on Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga as AS say that the 17-year-old has chosen to join Real Madrid.
Midfielder Camavinga is one of the hottest talents on the planet right now, and the Reds have previously been linked with a move for him (Diario Sport via Tribuna).
However, it now appears that Los Merengues have won the battle for his signature, with him set to cost the 13-time European champions a fee of €50m (£44.8m).
Even at 17, Camavinga is already breaking records. In August of last year, he became the youngest player in Ligue 1 to record an assist at just 16 years of age, and last campaign he became the first player born after January 1st 2002 to start a game in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Would you like to sign Eduardo Camavinga?
He featured in 36 matches in all competitions before the French campaign was brought to a premature end, with his contribution helping Stade Rennais finish in third place and therefore qualify for a spot in the Champions League. His talent is clear for all to see.
It is therefore understandable why Jurgen Klopp and co would be interested, and it will be a blow that he has chosen to move to Spain rather than the Premier League. Their chance at signing a generational talent may have been and gone.
