Many Liverpool fans have been left buzzing as James Pearce has relayed a comment made by Jurgen Klopp on whether the Reds will sign a centre-back.
Speaking to the media (via James Pearce), the German coach said “we will try” when asked whether the Merseyside club will look to bring a central defender to Anfield before this month’s transfer window shuts.
Can Liverpool win the Premier League without Van Dijk?
This has been met very well by several Reds fans as LFC have been forced to play Fabinho and even Jordan Henderson at times in the heart of the defence given the long-term injuries to both Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
With Joel Matip and Fabinho now out injured as well for the weekend’s game away at West Ham United, it may well be a very busy next couple of days for the current Premier League holders.
Signing a centre-half would allow the likes of Henderson to then play in his more suited position in the centre of midfield, and so it is not a surprise to see so many Liverpool supporters buzzing after hearing that they will try to sign one before the window officially closes.
Liverpool fan reaction to centre-back update
These Reds buzzed upon reading the update on Twitter:
“Great news. At least some movement. Edwards masterclass inbound (as usual)”
“This is all I need to hear right now.”
