Liverpool have been dealt some good news as striker Kirsty Linnett has penned a new deal with the club.
The 26-year-old has accepted a new contract amid what could potentially be a second exodus for the Reds. In 2018, a total of 12 senior players left Merseyside and this year Liverpool have already lost a further five.
The team will be in low spirits following their relegation from the Women’s Super League after results were decided on a points-per-game basis. They will compete in the second tier of the women’s football pyramid next season, the Championship.
Fellow striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk recently announced her departure, meaning that Linnett could see herself made the focus of Liverpool’s front three.
Lots of Reds fans are absolutely delighted with a bit of good news following a run of bad luck. One supporter has tweeted “this is amazing” whilst another has said they are “so happy” that Linnett will be staying with the club. After four key players packed their bags recently, it’s no wonder that so many Kopites are buzzing to see the striker stay.
