Liverpool have agreed a deal for Fluminense goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga after a new and improved offer for his services.
According to UOL Esporte (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), the Reds were keen to bring the 17-year-old to Anfield after he spoke with Alisson through his brother Muriel.
Who should be Alisson's deputy goalkeeper?
Liverpool’s offer is a reported £1.8million with a clause that will see Fluminense receive 20% of whatever the Merseyside outfit make via a future sale of Pitaluga.
The teenager joins fellow young goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek in the club’s youth ranks ahead of the new season.
This update has sparked some debate amongst the Anfield faithful and many are frustrated that Liverpool continue to add youngsters to the academy, but have yet to secure a marquee senior signing – Kostas Tsimikas is the only senior addition so far and he will just be a back up to Andy Robertson.
One fan has replied mockingly by saying ‘a new signing!’ whilst another genuinely appears to be excited by the connection between Alisson and Pitaluga by saying they ‘love this’.
