Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri appears to be edging closer to a summer exit from Anfield, with Corriere dello Sport reporting that he could be set for a move to Lazio (via Sports Witness)

Shaqiri has been with the Premier League side since 2018, having arrived from Stoke City, and he's gone on to make 63 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

But the Switzerland international found regular game time hard to come by with Jurgen Klopp's side last season, as they finished third in the top-flight standings.

Shaqiri made just five league starts and was understandably behind Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota in the pecking order in Klopp's plans.

This has seen him push for a move elsewhere, with Italian side Lazio reportedly keen on landing his signature before the summer transfer window reaches a conclusion.

But Corriere dello Sport claim that 'he will be sold at almost zero cost', which doesn't make for the best of reading for Liverpool, who signed Shaqiri for a fee in the region of £13.5million.

Sky Sports claim the Reds are trying to cash in for about £12.75m, but it remains to be seen whether the fee is that high or if reports in Italy are correct.

Either way, plenty of Liverpool supporters were quick to take to social media to fume at the update that the club will sell Shaqiri at 'almost zero cost'.

Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below, after the Italian media's claims were shared by LFC Transfer Room....

"We bought Shaq for an amazing cut price at £12m and we still managed to make a loss on him despite him not even touching 30.  Teams can smell our desperation."
