Liverpool are reportedly one of the teams interested in acquiring the services of Lille’s Victor Osimhen.
According to L’Equipe (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), the Reds are monitoring the 21-year-old’s progress and his transfer fee ‘shouldn’t be a problem’ for the club to meet.
However, a move to Serie A giants Napoli could be Osimhen’s more favoured destination. The striker has reportedly been in Italy to discuss a potential transfer. Liverpool remain keen on Nigerian despite his interest elsewhere.
Should Liverpool sign Victor Osimhen?
Osimhen has scored 18 goals across all competitions this season, netting 13 in 27 Ligue 1 appearances (via Transfermarkt). Liverpool’s interest is justified, as they are in need of backup for Roberto Firmino. An earlier version of L’Equipe has stated Lille would be looking for about €80million (£71.6m) for Osimhen (via Sport Witness).
A lot of Reds fans are interested in the idea of bringing the 21-year-old to Anfield. One supporter has commented saying ‘we need him’, with Liverpool having just two senior strikers currently in the squad. Another fan has branded Osimhen as ‘Origi 2.0’, perhaps due to the fact that the Belgian was also brought in from Lille back in 2014 (Transfermarkt).

Should Origi, Shaq & Wilson leave, signing Osimhen and promoting Brewster, Takumi & Elliott could be worthwhile. Not the biggest champions statement, but if it works a full from 3 can replace the current from within the squad, with reasonable spending. If not spend in 2021
