Liverpool are currently in a dilemma regarding their pursuit of major target Thiago Alcantara.

As it stands, it doesn't look the club is in any sort of capacity to facilitate a move for the Spaniard without first offloading another midfielder.

That's according to James Pearce (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), who reports that no new midfield personnel will be added to the squad unless they lose a senior member in the same position. Gini Wijnaldum has been linked with an Anfield exit but Pearce's update suggests that it is unlikely he will leave the club in this window.

The Dutchman was selected as part of Jurgen Klopp's team against Leeds and clearly remains an important part of the team, which could end the Reds' interest in Thiago.

Liverpool have been in talks with the Bayern Munich player for months now, but no official moves have been made. Some fans now feel that the deal is completely off and no more signings will be made between now and 5 October.

A lot of supporters have lost patience over this whole midfield conundrum and have lashed out via Twitter. One has hit out at the club's owners, rhetorically asking 'how poor is this club?'
