Bayern Munich expect midfielder Thiago Alcantara to join Liverpool this summer, but the Reds are yet to register an official bid.

That's according to The Athletic's Simon Hughes (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), who claims the 29-year-old and his club are awaiting a move from Michael Edwards.

The links between Thiago and Liverpool have been ongoing, yet the player is no closer to joining the club. It appears as though finances are the problem for the Reds, despite Bayern lowering their asking price to £23million (via Daily Mail).

Jurgen Klopp recently admitted that he can't say for sure who will be joining the ranks this summer.

"Due to Covid-19 you have to think five times about what you can and what you can’t do. We always have to pay attention to the financial aspect. We don’t know how much money will come in," he told Servus TV (via Metro).

Liverpool fans have hit out at the news that the club is yet to make an offer for Thiago. One supporter has put the owners in the spotlight by asking 'what have FSG done with all the finances?'

Another Red is suggesting that this is typical of Fenway Sports Group, who were also unsuccessful in signing heavily-linked target Timo Werner earlier this year. The fan has said 'I hate them for that'.
