Liverpool are said to be eyeing up a move for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi as a replacement for Dejan Lovren.
The curtain closed on the Croatian’s Anfield career last month after the Reds agreed a £10.9million deal with Zenit St Petersburg (via BBC Sport). Now, Liverpool are looking for another centre-back to come in and add to the depth of the defence.
Should Liverpool sign Aissa Mandi from Real Betis?
Mandi has been linked to a move to Merseyside but a recent report from Diario de Sevilla (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), claims that Liverpool’s offer for the Algerian has been knocked back. The Reds have reportedly tabled €10million (£9m) for Mandi’s services but Real Betis want closer to €12m (£10.8m).
However, the Spanish outfit are struggling with their finances this summer and are waiting to sell some of their players before they spend money in the window. As a result, they are willing to meet Liverpool in the middle on a fee for Mandi.
Many Liverpool fans aren’t keen on this though and don’t see the 28-year-old as a suitable replacement for Lovren. One supporter has replied to the update saying ‘don’t do this’, as they feel Mandi isn’t the man they need to bring in.
Another says they ‘fear for next season’ due to the fact the club hasn’t recruited anybody new yet.

Not raising my hopes too high for next season. Looking at what we are doing and our main competitor strengthen their squad despite the quality they already have. Likewise other competitors. I dont know if our owners think this season will come easy. Teams are going to come at us

I fear for next season already, i pray we finish top 4… our competitors are all hungry and developing but here we are trying to sign someone that can’t bench Gomez… Hello Klopp, i pray it works this time around.

We should do business like city. Do everything quietly and then boom announce a player.
