Liverpool: January swoop for Duje Caleta-Car in danger due to Marseille issues

Liverpool could be in a race against time to sign Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car, according to reports.
New faces at Anfield
It was believed on Sunday that the Reds had left it too late, due to the fact that the Ligue 1 club would have been unable to find a replacement before Monday’s 11 pm transfer deadline.
However, well-respected journalist David Lynch revealed that the Reds’ pursuit for the 24-year-old “could go to the wire” in the hope that they can acquire sufficient defensive cover for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.
Caleta-Car has been a regular for Marseille this season, with the 6 foot 3 central defender featuring in 24 games in all competitions, including four outings in the Champions League before his side’s early exit from the tournament.

Transfer Tavern Verdict
Liverpool appear to have reacted quickly since their 3-1 victory against Tottenham, and understand how crucial this transfer window could be for them.
With a move Preston’s Ben Davies looking likely to go through, Caleta-Car is not guaranteed by any means.
The clock is ticking so time will tell whether Liverpool can get this move over the line in time.
