Liverpool youngster Owen Beck is being called back from his spell with Famalicao and is instead heading for a loan switch to Bolton Wanderers, according to journalist Keifer MacDonald.
The lowdown: Rising star
Born in Wrexham, Beck - who is the great-nephew of Reds legend Ian Rush - has been widely recognised as one of the emerging stars from the academy system in recent years.
The 20-year-old Wales youth international has made 64 appearances for the various youth sides at the club, as well as making two senior outings for the Merseyside giants.
Originally loaned to Portuguese top flight outfit FC Famalicao, now it appears as though Beck could be set for an early return to England and another move...
The latest: 'Leading the race'
Taking to Twitter, MacDonald - a journalist for the Liverpool Echo - claimed that the seven-cap Wales Under 21 starlet could be on the way to join Bolton.
He stated: “Owen Beck will return to England this week after a brief spell at Famalicao. Understand #BWFC are currently leading the race for the #LFC youngster, with their style of play a massive attraction. Despite interest from elsewhere in England, the deal should be finalised tomorrow.”
The verdict: Best option
Despite being on the bench on three occasions in Portugal, Beck is yet to feature for the Primeira Liga side, a pattern that those in situ at Anfield wouldn't have foreseen when sending the young left-back to the club.
As such, bringing the Welsh ace back and instead opting for a switch to Bolton - who currently sit 10th in League One - looks to be an ideal solution for all parties in order to give the prospect adequate game time to further develop.
Hailed as a 'super talent' by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool clearly believe Beck has a bright future ahead of him and the bulk of a season to hone his skills with staff and supporters alike now able to keep a keen eye on his progress makes for an interesting proposition.
Meanwhile, whilst it remains to be seen whether any incomings will be forthcoming, another talented youngster in Sepp van den Berg has also completed a loan exit to German side Schalke.
