Liverpool: Fans drool over links with Sven Botman
Many Liverpool fans have been reacting in delight to reports linking their club with a move for Lille defender Sven Botman.
According to Foot Mercato (via GFFN), the reigning Premier League champions made contact with Botman’s agent last month about a possible future transfer, with Inter Milan and Ajax also believed to be interested.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the foreseeable future after both players suffered serious knee injuries towards the front end of the 2020/21 campaign.
Botman has attracted rave reviews, with French media stating that the rising star ‘muzzled’ AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Europa League action – indeed, Botman mustered up a 7.1 match rating in a 3-0 win vs Milan, while Zlatan was withdrawn after an hour with a 6.4, via Whoscored. He has even been compared to Virgil van Dijk in terms of playing style.
