# “Impact” Liverpool forward eyeing January exit amid concerns over playing time

[Liverpool have made an unbeaten start to the 2026/27 season](https://walkon.com/blog/supercomputer-predicts-final-2026-27-premier-league-table-2/) under Andoni Iraola, but their performances have left plenty to be desired.

The Reds have drawn 2-2 with Newcastle Unitewd and Nottingham Forest while beating newly promoted Ipswich Town 2-0.

One player yet to feature this season could now be considering his future at Anfield.

## **Chiesa To Leave Liverpool In January**

Federico Chiesa is reportedly prepared to leave [Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/) in January if he cannot establish himself in Iraola’s plans.

The Italian is currently recovering from a muscle injury but is expected to return to training during the upcoming international break. He was also left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad for a second consecutive season.

Chiesa struggled for regular opportunities under Arne Slot last term, starting just one Premier League match. The former Liverpool boss previously [praised him as an “impact” player](https://www.rousingthekop.com/2025/12/05/arne-slot-answers-how-close-federico-chiesa-is-to-a-liverpool-start-after-really-good-praise/).

Competition has since increased with the arrivals of Bradley Barcola and Victor Muñoz, although Chiesa could have a clearer route into the team following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
