# Liverpool: Fabrizio Romano drops Fabio Carvalho transfer update

**Writing in a column for [Anfield Watch](https://anfieldwatch.co.uk/exclusive-the-latest-on-mohamed-salah-sadio-mane-and-roberto-firmino-contract-talks/), reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Liverpool’s attempts to sign Fulham forward Fabio Carvalho.**

### The Lowdown: Liverpool so close…

In the final hours of deadline day, as reliably reported, Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp were very close to striking a deal for the Cottagers ace.

Indeed, eleventh hour talks were held over a move for Carvalho with both clubs even agreeing on an £8 million fee which included add-ons and various clauses in the deal ([The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3105302/2022/02/02/fabio-carvalho-why-8m-liverpool-transfer-collapsed-and-what-happens-next/)).

However, due to the late nature of this agreement, Liverpool transfer chiefs could not finalise the necessary documentation in time – resulting in the [transfer’s collapse.](https://theathletic.com/3105302/2022/02/02/fabio-carvalho-why-8m-liverpool-transfer-collapsed-and-what-happens-next/)

Since then, the Reds have been[tipped to go back in the summer](https://www.givemesport.com/87970027-reds-transfer-news-liverpool-are-frontrunners-to-sign-fabio-carvalho) and seal his move, with Romano now sharing the latest out of Anfield.

### The Latest: Romano shares update…

Writing in an [Anfield Watch column,](https://anfieldwatch.co.uk/exclusive-the-latest-on-mohamed-salah-sadio-mane-and-roberto-firmino-contract-talks/) the Italian reporter says Liverpool are now ‘waiting to see’ if a deal for Carvalho can be ‘formally agreed upon’.

This comes after Fenway Sports Group hold ‘productive talks thus far’ with the ball now seemingly in Fulham’s court.

### The Verdict: Get it done…

A very exciting player, signing Carvalho surely comes as a no-brainer for Klopp and the Premier League title chasers.

Just 19-years-old, the high-flying starlet has turned heads with his scintillating form over 2021/2022 – bagging [seven goals and five assists in the Championship](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-carvalho/leistungsdaten/spieler/559263) so far.

He’s also put in notable performances [against the likes of Manchester City](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fabio-carvalho-fulham-mancity-liverpool-26149185) in other competitions with pundit and ex-Leeds United striker Noel Whelan in no doubt Liverpool should make a move.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/fabio-carvalho-liverpool-tipped-to-complete-perfect-signing-after-critical-update-whelan/), Whelan claims Carvalho is the ‘perfect fit’ and ‘perfect style of player for Klopp’ and we believe he may just have a point.
