# Liverpool: Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Ben Woodburn tipped for further loans

**Three of Liverpool’s young attacking players have been earmarked for loan moves for next season, according to the Daily Star’s Liverpool reporter Chris McKenna.**

In a Q&A with the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/793915/Liverpool-transfers-news-Nicolas-Pepe-gossip-latest?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+daily-star-football+%28Daily+Star+%3A%3A+Football+Feed%29), the journalist said that he expects Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson to go back out on loan, while Ben Woodburn may also be loaned out.

All three players had loan spells away from Liverpool last season, with Kent [playing for Rangers](https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-ryan-kent/), Wilson [going to Derby](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/307399-harry-wilson-derby-loan-liverpool) and Woodburn having a [sojourn at Sheffield United](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/309960-ben-woodburn-sheffield-united-loan).

Kent made his first-team debut for Liverpool back in January 2016 in an [FA Cup tie against Exeter](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457/plus/0/saison/2015/wettbewerb/FAC/verein/31), but that remains his [only appearance for the club](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457).

He made [43 appearances at Rangers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457) last season, scoring [six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457) (0.14 per game) and providing [10 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457) (0.23 per game).

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised the 22-year-old’s performance in the friendly defeat to Sevilla this week, saying to [LFC TV](https://video.liverpoolfc.com/?_ga=2.246696580.1024163478.1564041766-2003278357.1561121079) \[[via Football Scotland](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/liverpools-jurgen-klopp-hails-rangers-16643193)\]: “He is a wonderful kid, a wonderful player. Very good moments in pre-season, but it is for all the boys always a big challenge as well to show up.”

Like Kent, Wilson’s first-team experience at Liverpool consists of just [one FA Cup third round appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-wilson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279455), the [1-0 replay victory over Plymouth](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-wilson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279455/plus/0/saison/2016/wettbewerb/FAC/verein/31) in 2017.

The Wales international had a very successful loan spell at Derby last term, ending the year with [18 goals and six assists in 49 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-wilson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279455) to record match averages of 0.37 goals and 0.12 assists.

He has [featured in several of Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2019/07/how-rhian-brewster-harry-wilson-are-headlining-liverpool-youngsters-no-fear-approach/) and [scored in the 2-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund](https://talksport.com/football/575551/liverpool-pre-season-fixtures-to-borussia-dortmund-rhian-brewster-harry-wilson-rangers-ryan-kent/) in a bid to stake a claim for competitive first-team action at Anfield next season.

Woodburn has had greater exposure to the Liverpool first team than Kent or Wilson, featuring [11 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-woodburn/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344015) for the Reds and [becoming the club’s youngest ever goalscorer in just his second game](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/29/liverpool-leeds-united-efl-cup-quarter-final-match-report).

However, he endured a frustrating, [injury-plagued](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-loanee-ben-woodburn-hit-15561377) spell at Sheffield United last season, making [eight appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-woodburn/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344015) but being [unable to find the net or register an assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-woodburn/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344015).

He has at least played some pre-season action for the Reds, including appearances against [Borussia Dortmund](https://talksport.com/football/575551/liverpool-pre-season-fixtures-to-borussia-dortmund-rhian-brewster-harry-wilson-rangers-ryan-kent/) and [Sevilla](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2019-20/first-team/liverpool-v-sevilla-live-match-blog).

Klopp is likely to stick with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino as his first-choice front three next season, given that the trio scored [69 goals between them](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262018) in 2018/19.

Divock Origi could also be in contention for regular appearances after his Champions League heroics against [Barcelona](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48179167) and [Tottenham](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/01/tottenham-liverpool-champions-league-final-match-report) earlier this year, while Brewster has excelled with [four goals in pre-season](https://dugout.com/liverpoolfc/rhian-brewster-4th-pre-season-goal) and Shaqiri, scorer of [six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262018) last season, is also pushing for inclusion.

Given the level of competition for forward places in Liverpool’s squad, it is difficult to envisage any of Kent, Wilson or Woodburn getting much game-time at Anfield next term.

They will likely need loan moves to get regular action in 2019/20, but Liverpool could also afford to cash in if a club came calling with a reasonable bid to buy any of those three outright, as they would still have plenty of quality forward options to call upon.
