# Liverpool: Joe Gomez posts injury update on Instagram

**Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has revealed an injury update on social media as his journey back to full fitness continues.**

### **Gomez on the mend**

Posting on his [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/joegomez5/?hl=en) story, Gomez shared an update of the first major milestone in his recovery process since surgery.

The 23-year-old’s season was brought to a shuddering halt in hugely unfortunate circumstances, [rupturing his patella tendon](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/415749-joe-gomez-injury-update) while on international duty with England and is out of action for the foreseeable future.

Gomez joined his centre-back partner Virgil van Dijk in the Kirkby treatment room, who is also recovering from a similar, and equally serious setback.

The English centre half kept it short and sweet in this Instagram update, dropping five promising words that suggests he will thrive in the ‘struggle’ of his recovery.

### **Transfer Tavern Verdict**

This will leave Liverpool fans breathing a sigh of relief. Van Dijk recently posted footage on his [Twitter](https://twitter.com/VirgilvDijk/status/1344011360015962115) page of him back in the gym, and it appears Gomez is not too far behind his teammate.

The England international has become a crucial asset for the Merseysiders and played a huge part in his team winning both the Champions League and the Premier League in the space of [13](https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/liverpool-premier-league-trophy-klopp-18505956) months.

That being said, Klopp will not want to rush him back and time will tell whether Gomez will play any further part this season.
