# Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp gifted huge injury boost

**Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been welcomed with the news that captain Jordan Henderson will return to the squad to face Tottenham on Thursday.**

### The skipper is back

The 30-year-old has not featured in the team since side’s [0-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41534299) draw against Manchester United in the Premier League and missed out on their [FA Cup exit](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55708043) at the hands of the Red Devils the following week, as well as the [defeat](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55657090) to Burnley.

But [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/01/26/liverpool-captain-jordan-henderson-ready-hand-jurgen-klopp-welcome/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1611698690) have provided a silver lining to Liverpool’s concerns this season, stating that he has recovered from a [muscle strain](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-jordan-henderson-injury-klopp-19676727) and in line to feature for the Reds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Klopp has since [confirmed](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1354391498234716161) the good news in his pre-match press conference.

It has been another campaign where Henderson has led by example and he was described as “selfless” on BBC’s Match of the Day (via [Rousing The Kop](https://www.rousingthekop.com/2020/12/20/jermaine-jenas-raves-over-selfless-jordan-henderson-v-crystal-palace/)) by Jermaine Jenas, due to the way he allows his teammates to excel – in this case they romped to a 7-0 win at Crystal Palace.

### Transfer Tavern Verdict

Klopp will be delighted to have his captain back in what is a huge game for them. Liverpool cannot afford to drop any more points and have the best chance of succeeding with Henderson in their midfield.

Despite being [heavily criticised](https://talksport.com/football/196695/marmite-footballers-one-player-each-premier-league-team-who-divides-opinion-most/) over the years, he previously admitted that he [uses his critics as motivation](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jul/24/liverpool-jordan-henderson-named-football-writers-player-of-the-year) and it certainly shows with his performances over the past two seasons.

However, with the Reds having won just [once](https://www.fotmob.com/teams/8650/fixtures/liverpool) in 2021 so far, they have a lot of work to do and it will be interesting to see if Henderson can help make the difference.
