# Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp is prepared to rotate his squad as busy schedule approaches

**Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he is prepared to utilise the depth of his squad over the coming weeks, with the Reds facing a busy schedule of games.**

The [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-ready-rotate-liverpool-16916579) reported that Klopp is likely to rotate his squad plentifully over the next few matches, with the manager saying: “[Rotation? Absolutely, they know it.](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-ready-rotate-liverpool-16916579)”

”The situation we spoke about last time, we said OK, the first four match days, we had twice a week to prepare, so there is no reason \[to change\]…you won the games.”

The Reds won all four of their Premier League matches in August, having had only one midweek game during the month, and kept their 100% record going with this weekend’s 3-1 win over Newcastle. \[[via liverpoolfc.com](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2019-20/first-team/fixtures-and-results)\]

However, they now face four successive away games before the end of September and will have six matches in 19 days prior to the next international break in October. \[[via liverpoolfc.com](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2019-20/first-team/fixtures-and-results)\]

Liverpool’s next fixture is [Napoli away in the Champions League](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2019-20/first-team/fixtures-and-results) on Tuesday night, having [lost on their last visit to the Italian club in the competition nearly a year ago](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/bilanzdetail/verein/31/wettbewerb_id//gegner_id/6195/saison_id//heim_gast//datum_von/-/datum_bis/-/day/0/land_id/75).

They then have successive Premier League trips to Chelsea and Sheffield United over the next two weekends, with a Carabao Cup visit to MK Dons sandwiched in between, before two home games in four days in the first week of October against Red Bull Salzburg and Leicester. \[[via liverpoolfc.com](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2019-20/first-team/fixtures-and-results)\]

Seven players featured in all of the Reds’ first six matches of the season, with a further six missing only one game so far this term. Klopp used 19 players altogether in August. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/leistungsdaten/verein/31)\]

Nine players have been involved in each of their Premier League games so far in 2019/20, with defenders Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold ever-present and four more playing for more than 300 minutes. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=GB1%262019)\]

The match against MK Dons is likely to see Klopp utilise players who have had little or no game time this season – in last season’s Carabao Cup third round clash against Chelsea, he made [eight changes from the team which started their previous Premier League fixture](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-chelsea/401814).

Of the players who have had [fewer than 300 minutes of gametime this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262019), Divock Origi already has [one goal to his name in 2019/20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262019) and [scored seven last term](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262018), [as did James Milner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262018), while Xherdan Shaqiri [hit six goals last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262018).

Klopp could give some players a first competitive appearance of the campaign in the next few games, with young striker Rhian Brewster showing his promise with [four goals in pre-season](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2019/08/rhian-brewster-harry-wilson-catch-the-eye-liverpool-fcs-2019-pre-season-in-numbers/), Andy Lonergan and Caoimhin Kelleher [both taking to the bench as backup goalkeeper](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262019), and Dejan Lovren an experienced defender with [170 Liverpool appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dejan-lovren/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/37838) to his name.

Liverpool have players like Origi, Shaqiri and Milner who could come into the team and who have shown that they can get goals, while the Reds have already experienced a few injuries this season even with a relatively mild schedule thus far. However, the [Belgium striker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/profil/spieler/148368) [limped off in the first half of the win over Newcastle](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-newcastle/teams/408024).

Alisson injured his calf in the opening day win over Norwich, as per [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-norwich/407981), while Naby Keita has been out since mid-August with a groin problem, as reported by the [Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1175397/Liverpool-team-news-Injury-Alisson-Naby-Keita-Nathaniel-Clyne). The duo are joined in the treatment room by long-term injury victims [Paul Glatzel](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-tranmere-match-transfer-news-16572339) and [Nathaniel Clyne](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/358081-nathaniel-clyne-injury-update), who both incurred cruciate ligament injuries in pre-season.

Klopp has understandably kept faith with players who have ensured a perfect start to the Premier League season, but now that the Reds face three multi-match weeks in a row, he is likely to need his squad players to come in and allow established figures a rest – especially with the added commitment of the [Club World Cup in December](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49124621).
