# Liverpool: Manchester United eye up Fabio Carvalho move

**Manchester United are eyeing up a summer move for rumoured Liverpool transfer target Fabio Carvalho, according to a fresh transfer claim.**

### The Lowdown: Liverpool keen on Carvalho

The Reds and manager Jurgen Klopp brought in Luis Diaz during the January transfer window and they were also strongly [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/liverpool-fabio-carvalho-transfer-latest-carl-markham/) with a move for Carvalho.

The 19-year-old has been a star performer for Championship leaders Fulham this season, [scoring seven goals and registering five assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/401385/Show/Fabio-Carvalho).

Pundit Kevin Phillips has even branded Carvalho as ‘[exciting’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool-could-sign-sensation-carvalho-after-what-phillips-has-heard/) whilst Fabrizio Romano says the teenage talent is someone [‘Klopp wants’ at Anfield personally.](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1489914546840125451)

While Liverpool are[expected to return](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/luis-diaz-signing-is-a-plan-for-the-future-as-juergen-klopp-warns-he-cannot-wait-for-key-players-to-decide-future-30j8xjbg0) for him at the end of the campaign, a new update suggests acquiring his signature may not be easy.

### The Latest: Man United join the race

According to [*The Daily Star*](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/manutd-transfer-exclusive-fabio-carvalho-26273377), United are also keen on signing the Englishman, having sent scouts to watch him against Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Red Devils are ‘planning a hijack bid’ to sign Liverpool’s target this summer as they eye a ‘last-ditch attempt to stop him heading to Anfield’.

### The Verdict: Why join United over Reds?

While this is a worrying claim from a Liverpool perspective, the Reds would likely be the more appealing proposition at the moment, with their bitter rivals seemingly in[turmoil on and off the pitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTkihIUjAdY), by their past standards.

Carvalho would surely[jump at the chance to work under Jurgen Klopp](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/liverpool-journalist-makes-fabio-carvalho-transfer-claim/) and the fact that he is an[advocate of youth](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/24/jurgen-klopp-shows-faith-youngsters-fa-cup-date-shrewsbury-town/) means he would likely get a chance to shine, as has been the case with his former [Fulham teammate Harvey Elliott.](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/feb/06/klopp-hails-proper-fairytale-of-harvey-elliotts-comeback-goal-for-liverpool)

There was a time when it was United who the [young English players wanted to join](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4178687/manchester-united-to-sign-rising-star-striker-from-manchester-city) but the current situation is now very different, which is a testament to the job Klopp has done.
