**Such is the nature of the proverbial silly season, rumours and reports are often aired within the Transfer Tavern, only to be shot down a few hours later as the mill keeps on churning.**

Earlier [reports](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-transfer-news-andros-townsend-newcastle-in-high-demand-reds-express-interest-a7093121.html) had suggested that Liverpool were keen on making a shock move for Newcastle United star Andros Townsend this summer, following the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship.

However, the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-no-interest-10m-11502369) has moved to quell suggestions the England speedster could make a move to Anfield, though reveal they ARE keen on another forward.

Southampton ace Sadio Mane is [believed](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-no-interest-10m-11502369) to have emerged as the Reds’ Number 1 priority this summer, as Jurgen Klopp bids to introduce more pace into the team.

The German is [understood](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-no-interest-10m-11502369) to have been a big fan of the Senegalese since his time with Red Bull Salzburg and is keen on bringing him to Anfield.

The Saints are [thought](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-no-interest-10m-11502369) to be looking for around £30m for the 24-year old, though the deal could be held up by the hunt for a new manger on the South Coast.

**Who would fit in better at Liverpool, Townsend or Mane?**
