# Liverpool: Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount would both expect key roles

**[Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/) transfer targets [Jude Bellingham](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jude-bellingham/) and [Mason Mount](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/mason-mount/) would both expect to be regular starters if they move to Anfield, according to [transfer insider](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer) Dean Jones.**

### The Lowdown: Bellingham and Mount linked with Liverpool

The Reds endured another lifeless performance on Saturday evening, drawing 0-0 at Crystal Palace in an instantly forgettable [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) clash.

It was another [terrible performance](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/02/crystal-palace-0-0-liverpool-player-ratings/) by the midfield, further highlighting exactly why Liverpool have been linked with signing both [Bellingham](https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/exclusive-jude-bellingham-willing-snub-man-utd-for-liverpool-one-major-condition) and [Mount](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/mason-mount-chelsea-latest-transfer-rumours-updates/) this summer.

There simply has to be a major rebuild in that area in order for the Merseysiders to return to the team that they once were under [Jurgen Klopp](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jurgen-klopp/).

### The Latest: Both would expect to be regular starters

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/liverpool-jude-bellingham-mason-mount-jurgen-klopp-premier-league-transfer-rumours-anfield/), Jones said that Bellingham and Mount would both expect to play almost all the time if they were to join Liverpool in the summer.

The journalist said:

> “It’s a big squad change to bring in two players like this, not just into the squad but basically into the starting XI, because that’s what both are going to be expecting.”

### The Verdict: No-brainer for Liverpool

Frankly, it is a no-brainer that both Bellingham and Mount would demand to be star players if they arrive at Anfield, as they would be upgrades on the Reds’ current midfield options.

Bellingham’s 7.58 [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/379868/Show/Jude-Bellingham) rating this season far exceeds [any Liverpool midfielder](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool), while Thiago is the only player in that position at Anfield whose rating betters Mount’s [6.75](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/343346/Show/Mason-Mount).

They are also both vital figures for England, racking up 58 caps between them already at the ages of [19](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jude-bellingham/profil/spieler/581678) and [24](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mason-mount/profil/spieler/346483) respectively, and they would provide both the quality and the fresh legs that Liverpool so desperately need in the middle of the park.

If the Reds manage to snap up both Bellingham and Mount, it would have the potential to completely transform the team, although a third midfield signing could also be required, such as the [recently-linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/liverpool-matheus-nunes-latest-transfer-news-rumours-updates/) Matheus Nunes.

Klopp can continue to build his team around the likes of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz moving forward. If a new midfield is secured, there is no reason why we can’t see a great Liverpool team again.
