[![A replacement / support for Mario Balotelli](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/4490265-500x348.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/4490265.jpg?admin)Rumours are rife in the Transfer Tavern today concerning the fate of Liverpool’s maverick striker and Italy international, Mario Balotelli.

After only joining last summer for a fee of £16 million, [the Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3177181/Mario-Balotelli-wanted-Sampdoria-Liverpool-lower-7-1m-asking-price-says-Serie-club-president.html)are saying his time is up at Anfield after a disappointing debut season that saw the ex-Man City striker only net once.

[Reports](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3177181/Mario-Balotelli-wanted-Sampdoria-Liverpool-lower-7-1m-asking-price-says-Serie-club-president.html) suggest that a return to Serie A is on the cards, with Sampdoria set to be the most likely destination – however their [club president wants to pay an even lower price](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3177181/Mario-Balotelli-wanted-Sampdoria-Liverpool-lower-7-1m-asking-price-says-Serie-club-president.html)for the striker than the current fee of around £7 million being discussed.

Seeing the front man score just one goal, for him to then leave at a loss of upwards of £9 million is not being looked upon fondly by the Liverpool fans, who are having a few pints in the Tavern today!
