# Liverpool: Reds fans fume at Jordan Henderson contract claim

**Some Liverpool supporters have been left fuming after a report emerged claiming that talks have stalled over a new deal for Jordan Henderson.**

The Reds captain has enjoyed a memorable career at Anfield, now spending 10 years at the club. After overcoming a [tough start](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9662510/Liverpools-Jordan-Henderson-was-shocked-to-be-told-he-could-leave-Anfield.html) to life on Merseyside, Henderson has grown into both a [phenomenal skipper](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/apr/03/liverpool-jordan-henderson-sets-up-premier-league-coronavirus-fund-for-nhs) and top-class footballer, winning both the Champions League and Premier League.

The 31-year-old’s current Liverpool deal [expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-henderson/profil/spieler/61651) in the summer of 2023, but there has been some hope that he will extend his stay beyond that date.

A fresh report has emerged, however, with [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2713743/2021/07/19/jordan-henderson-and-liverpool-a-contract-dilemma-causing-a-lot-of-uncertainty/)‘s [James Pearce](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1417015586706632707?s=20) and [David Ornstein](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1417015245202206722?s=20) claiming that there is genuine uncertainty over Henderson’s long-term future. No progress is thought to have been made over a new deal despite talks going on for a long time, suggesting that the midfielder might not finish his career at Anfield.
