# Liverpool: Fans react to links with Rodrigo De Paul

**Many Liverpool fans reacted to reports in Italy that the Reds were taking a strong interest in Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.**

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Anfield last month but those whispers have re-emerged in the Italian press, with [Tutto Udinese](https://www.tuttoudinese.it/calciomercato/il-liverpool-continua-a-seguire-de-paul-80759) revealing that the Reds are considering a serious approach for the Serie A skipper.

De Paul has scored [five](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/125547/Show/Rodrigo-de-Paul) goals and provided [one](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/125547/Show/Rodrigo-de-Paul) assist in [21](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/125547/Show/Rodrigo-de-Paul) starts during the 2020/21 campaign, with his team having won just [six out of 22 matches](https://www.fctables.com/teams/udinese-196161/).

The Argentina international has received huge praise in Southern Europe in recent months for his performances – particularly from Watford director Cristiano Giareta who [described](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/tmw-radio-ds-watford-vogliamo-rilanciare-masina-e-lazaar-de-paul-a-udine-e-leader-1497154) him as a “leader” and “among the strongest players in the world.”

Of course, this will all depend on what happens regarding Georginio Wijnaldum’s [contract conundrum](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-transfer-news-georginio-wijnaldum-23406032), with his existing deal due to expire in the summer. Nevertheless, this did not stop the fans below from getting [carried away](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1362712030327824387) with the news.
