# Newcastle United: Charlie Bennett urges Magpies to sign Youri Tielemans

**The Chronicle journalist Charlie Bennett has urged [Newcastle United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/) to sign reported target Youri Tielemans.**

### The Lowdown: Bid reported

As per [The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11164175/Newcastle-exploring-chance-signing-Arsenal-target-Youri-Tielemans-Leicester.html), the St. James’ Park outfit are exploring the chance of signing Arsenal and Liverpool target Tielemans before the transfer window closes.

Leicester City [reportedly](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO/status/1564875416418017288) received a £19m bid from a mystery club on Wednesday morning, and it is thought that it [may have](https://twitter.com/LukeEdwardsTele/status/1564922437929762816) come from the Magpies.

However, the Foxes are thought to be holding out for [£30m](https://twitter.com/JacobsBen/status/1564905077470646272) for the Belgium international.

### The Latest: Bennett reacts

Taking to Twitter after hearing the news, [Bennett](https://twitter.com/CharIieBennett/status/1564928390544629763) has claimed that it is a ‘no-brainer’ for the Tynesiders, or any other club in the Premier League for that matter, to sign Tielemans.

He adds that the Toon could form a ‘Champions League midfield’ along with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton:

*“Youri Tielemans available for approx £30million – a no-brainer for any Premier League club. Bruno sitting with Tielemans and Joelinton ahead of him would be a Champions League-level midfield.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done

With the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, who can both offer him European football, lurking around for his signature, it is vital that Eddie Howe’s team get a deal for Tielemans over the line ASAP if they are serious about signing him.

With 18 goals and 19 assists in 124 games for Leicester in the Premier League ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/249565/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=)), the 25-year-old is tried and trusted in the top flight, and would certainly offer Howe another quality option in the middle of the park.

Nonetheless, given that he only has [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/profil/spieler/249565) year left on his contract at the King Power Stadium, he is available for what could turn out to be a bargain price, and so NUFC need to pounce on the opportunity that has been gifted to them.
