# Liverpool’s predicted XI for 2020/2021

**With Liverpool on the cusp of lifting their 19th English league title, should the season resume, there aren’t many changes you would make to their starting XI. However, what would a predicted XI for the 2020/2021 campaign look like for the Anfield giants?**

In goal, you can’t look past Alisson Becker, who according to [Shaka Hislop](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7vQVe4yE-M) is the best ‘keeper in the world. You could name Jurgen Klopp’s four defenders in your sleep with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Andy Robertson all making the teamsheet. The Merseysiders have [conceded the least number of goals in the division](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/goals_conceded), showing the strength of the quartet.

In midfield, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho have been a staggering trio. The England international has been tipped for the PFA Player of the Year award by presenter [Richard Keys](https://richardajkeys.com/index.php/blog/235-liverpool-have-won-their-battle-now-it-s-war) and has been a key figure in the middle of the park. Meanwhile, the Brazilian averages the second-most tackles per league game and his Dutch teammate has the third-highest pass accuracy, [as per WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool).

It’s the attacking trio which would provide the biggest headache. While Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have [scored 16 and 14 goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) respectively in the Premier League, there are [reports that the two aren’t the best of friends](https://richardajkeys.com/index.php/blog/235-liverpool-have-won-their-battle-now-it-s-war). The former has also been tipped by Gary Neville to leave the club in the near future if Barcelona or Real Madrid come knocking (Sky Sports [via Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8042957/Gary-Neville-believes-Mohamed-Salah-using-Liverpool-stepping-stone.html)).

The club have been [linked](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7997385/Liverpool-latest-club-keen-sign-100m-rated-Borussia-Dortmund-forward-Jadon-Sancho.html) with £117m-rated, [as per Transfermarkt,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/leistungsdaten/spieler/401173) right-winger [Jadon Sancho](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/346300/Show/Jadon-Sancho), who plays more key passes per league game and has more assists than [Liverpool’s Egyptian king](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool). It’s a move which would see the Senegal international retain his place in the team.

Upfront Roberto Firmino needs to be replaced with the Brazilian having scored just [one goal at Anfield](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51800660) all season. The £72m-rated, [as per Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/leistungsdaten/spieler/170527), [Timo Werner](https://theathletic.co.uk/1624500/2020/02/27/timo-werner-liverpool-barcelona-manchester-united-transfer/) has been linked with a move and having scored a staggering [27 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/leistungsdaten/spieler/170527) across all competitions, he would be the perfect marksman to lead a potential title defence.
