# Loan Watch: Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eddie Nketiah shine but Mohamed Elneny sees red

**In our *Arsenal Loan Watch* feature, the Transfer Tavern takes a look at how a selection of players from the club are doing whilst they are away from their home and provide a brief update regarding their progress.**

**Henrikh Mkhitaryan**

Midfielder [Henrikh Mkhitaryan](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49710440) scored on his Roma debut as he got his Serie A career off to the perfect start.

The Armenian notched in Roma’s 4-2 victory over Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico to continue his good form, following his double on international duty against [Bosnia and Herzegovina](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49628163) on the previous weekend.

30-year-old Mkhitaryan was involved in three of the Gunners’ four [opening games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/henrikh-mkhitaryan/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/55735/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=), but has told of his [unhappiness](https://www.skysports.com/app/transfer/news/12691/11806395/henrikh-mkhitaryan-says-unhappiness-led-to-his-loan-move-away-from-arsenal) during his time in English football.

And it seems he has put that misery behind him for now by hitting the ground running for his new club.

**Eddie Nketiah**

[Leeds United](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49624171) got back to winning ways in the Championship, and they had the continuing good form of Eddie Nketiah to thank, after the on-loan Arsenal striker netted late on as the Whites beat Barnsley 2-0.

The 20-year-old struck six minutes from time to edge his side in front before a late penalty ensured the points for Leeds, who returned to the top of the [table](https://www.skysports.com/championship-table).

His goal was his [fourth](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/345845/Show/Eddie-Nketiah) in six showings for his temporary club, as he capped his latest [substitute](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/345845/MatchStatistics/Eddie-Nketiah) appearance with another crucial strike for the Championship leaders.

**Mohamed Elneny**

Meanwhile, Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny was [sent off](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/watch-arsenal-flop-mohamed-elneny-20065305) during Besiktas’ 3-2 defeat in the Turkish Super Lig to Gazisehir.

Elneny kicked out at an opponent, who was sent off alongside the out-of-favour Gunner as his fresh start away from the Emirates Stadium literally got off on the wrong foot.

Following the defeat, [Besiktas](https://www.google.com/search?q=turkish+super+lig&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB860GB860&oq=turkish+s&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.2609j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=lg;/g/11fk4219v7;2;/m/04r98r;st;fp;1;;) have been left in 13th place in the league table as a suspension awaits the 27-year-old.
