# Manchester City: Fans agree with Noel Gallagher’s comments about voiding Premier League season

**Plenty of Manchester City fans have voiced their agreement with comments made by musician Noel Gallagher about the current Premier League season.**

Speaking on [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/705386/noel-gallagher-exclusive-premier-league-season-should-been-scrapped-liverpool-bold-claim/), the former Oasis star and long-time Manchester City supporter said that the 2019/20 campaign should have been declared null and void after the outbreak of coronavirus and feels that it is only being preserved to ensure that [runaway leaders Liverpool](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2019) can end their 30-year title drought.

[He said](https://talksport.com/football/705386/noel-gallagher-exclusive-premier-league-season-should-been-scrapped-liverpool-bold-claim/): “I think it should have been voided weeks ago. Just give them the trophy, they’ve won it anyway. The cynic in me think if it wasn’t Liverpool going for the title, if it was City or Chelsea, it would have been voided already.” His remarks were subsequently shared on Twitter by [@City\_Chief](https://twitter.com/City_Chief/status/1260999492230361089).

The Premier League season [ground to a halt nine weeks ago](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/mar/13/premier-league-and-british-football-set-for-shutdown-due-to-coronavirus-live) with Liverpool [25 points clear](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2019) of second-placed Manchester City and [needing only six more](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2019) to usurp Pep Guardiola’s team as Premier League champions.

Despite [calls from numerous figures](https://live4liverpool.com/2020/04/other/10-pundits-players-and-personalities-who-have-called-for-liverpools-premier-league-pursuit-to-be-thwarted/) to void the season, negotiations have been continuing over the past several weeks to restart the Premier League in a safe manner in what has been titled [Project Restart](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11662/11987276/premier-league-restart-the-next-steps-and-timetable). The UK government has this week [given the green light](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11988442/coronavirus-government-supports-plans-for-football-to-return) for football to resume from the beginning of June.
