# Manchester City: Fans beg for Eric Garcia not to be sold amid Barcelona transfer interest

**A number of Manchester City fans have urged the club to keep hold of Eric Garcia amid reports of transfer interest from Barcelona.**

After Spanish media outlet [Sport](https://www.sport.es/en/news/barca/barca-monitoring-former-defender-eric-garcia-now-at-man-city-7984267) claimed that the La Liga giants were considering bringing their [former academy product](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/ex-barcelona-jewel-eric-garcia-lighting-up-man-citys-pre/1lq7t2h0psoqc1h00gl47nvwk5) back to the club, [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4105263/barcelona-approach-for-man-citys-garcia-rejected-sources) reported that they had made enquiries to the Premier League champions about the 19-year-old. The story was subsequently shared on Twitter by [@City\_Chief](https://twitter.com/City_Chief/status/1268302609745686529).

Garcia has made [11 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eric-garcia/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/466794/verein/281) for Manchester City this season, earning [plenty of plaudits from fans](https://www.footballfancast.com/premier-league/manchester-city/eric-garcia-the-citizens-pep-guardiola-fan-reaction) and giving some impressive performances. He made [six clearances in a 45-minute appearance](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376281/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Wolverhampton-Wanderers-Manchester-City) in the 3-2 defeat away to Wolves and posted [four interceptions](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376126/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Manchester-City-Everton) in the home win over Everton on New Year’s Day.

The teenager isn’t the only player in Pep Guardiola’s squad being linked with a possible summer exit – Bayern Munich continue to fawn over Leroy Sane, having [prepared an offer for the winger last year](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/fc-bayern-muenchen-summe-hinterlegt-neue-verhandlungsbasis-bei-leroy-san-70462974.bild.html) and [openly courted him](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sane-bayern-transfer-man-city-18337844) in recent weeks, with German football journalist Raphael Honigstein telling The Athletic’s [The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast](https://t.co/my4aSgaeVX?amp=1) that an agreement between club and player is “basically done”.

These Manchester City fans on Twitter don’t want to see Garcia being sold to Barcelona, with one supporter begging the Etihad Stadium outfit not to turn it into “another Sane situation”:

> Don't make this another sane situation [@ManCity](https://twitter.com/ManCity?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [@PepTeam](https://twitter.com/PepTeam?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) … Please [https://t.co/25lGVOUSiE](https://t.co/25lGVOUSiE)
